Thanksgiving weekend started out not so great. My dad had surgery and he was not doing well. His super easy outpatient surgery ended with a hospital admission and morose texts. Somehow getting everything done for the Thanksgiving feast was put on the back burner as really, the only thing I wanted was him to be well. I so appreciated the tweets, and the Facebook messages, and the emails I got from all of you asking me how he was doing. Tuesday and Wednesday were trying, but by Thursday he was well enough to stop by for a quick bite to eat and to celebrate Thanksgiving and Friday he stayed longer for leftovers.
We had a really lovely long weekend. We went to the Air and Space museum on Friday, and I apologize to everyone who stopped by for Shoe Friday. I think that is the only time I plum forgot to post it. We had out of town guests all weekend and I was mostly offline.
As soon as we got to the museum Michael grabbed the map and led the way, just like he always does. We had been before and he wanted to make sure we saw all of his favorites.
On Saturday we saw Rise of the Guardians, which was honestly one of the best children’s movies I have seen in a long time. (Not sponsored.) I still haven’t seen Wreck it Ralph yet so maybe my mind will be changed after I’ve seen that. On Sunday our guests left, and we literally did nothing. I caught up on laundry, and dishes, and worked out, because my g-d the food, and we went over to my parent’s house for dinner. And I got to see first hand that my Dad is on the road to recovery. I also finished a fantastic book, Still Life with Husband (affiliate link.)
I hope everyone had a lovely, long, relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. And here is to a whole season of stress free holidays.
