Shoe Friday #98-Help A Bride Out Edition

by Jodifur on October 22, 2010

Stephanie is getting married in less than a month and she needs advice on her wedding shoes.  Who doesn't like to give wedding advice?

Here is her dilemma-

I'm trying to decide between the somewhat more classic silver pair and the more daring blue pair.  My ideal shoe would probably be a combination of the two… I love the bow detail on the silver shoe, but think the blue color would be pretty fun peeping out from under my dress (which is a pretty true white).  I've worn the silver pair to a friend's wedding, so I know they are comfortable enough for standing, walking and dancing for several hours.  But, both pairs are the same brand and feel like they fit the same, so I think the blue pair would also be fairly comfortable.  I'm torn!

I was all, “Blue, definitely blue,” until I scrolled down to the silver, which are gorgeous! What about wearing the silver to the ceremony and the blue to the reception. I am all about rendering decision making skills obsolete. Good luck!

Blue. Blueblueblue. Although I really like Jessi’s idea above. Because she’s right. Those silver shoes are beautiful.

Silver! And paint your toenails silvery/blue. Love the blue shoes but I think they’ll call too much attention to your feet when you want people looking at your happy face!!

Blue, blue, blue! How fun would that be?! Although, Jessi’s idea is fabulous as well. May as well wear two gorgeous pairs of shoes on the big day, right?

I vote blue!

Blue! Blue! They will look so fabulous, just that flicker of color at your gown hem. And will look amazing in photos. I wanted red shoes for my wedding, but never found what I wanted, so I think anyone who’s at all pondering colored shoes should do it.

Both pairs are GORGEOUS. But I went with white shoes under my wedding gown and have always envied the brides with bright, beautiful shoes… So I vote for blue. So pretty!

I like the idea of blue shoes but the silver ones are SO gorgeous!! Then paint your toes with Rescue Beauty’s Catherine H (subtle) http://www.rescuebeauty.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rb&Product_Code=Catherine-H or Nars Blue Lagoon(bright) or Nars Midnight Express(bold) http://www.narscosmetics.com/Vintage-2009-Nail-Polish-C540_hunger-zizi-tallulah_7.aspx

I was going to say exactly was Jessi said! I love both of those shoes! And I love her suggestion of switching shoes between the wedding and reception.

BLUE BLUE BLUE…the pictures will be AMAZING!!! Be sure and get pics of them!
Switching is a great idea too but since you’ve already worn the silver to a wedding, I say wear the blue to yours!!!

If blue won’t clash with your flowers or the guys tuxes, I say go for blue. It is fun and a bit wild and will make you smile every time you see your pictures.

Blue, I love them! If not, go with Jessi’s suggestion.

What color are your flowers? If the blue would complement them, I’d go with the blue. I just saw some pictures of bride who carried red flowers and wore red shoes with a traditional white dress, and it looked fantastic.

normally I would have said blue, but those silver ones are stunning. maybe the silver shoes with blue toenail polish to make a statement :)

My flowers are mostly white, but with a few blue delphinium and green berries mixed in. The bridesmaids are wearing blue dresses (although it’s not as bright as the shoes), but not blue shoes.
As for the “sparkles” on the blue shoe, I actually added those on myself. (It’s not permanent.) The blue shoes actually didn’t come with that little buckle thing on them. Here’s a photo of how they originally looked: http://tinyurl.com/2f5hjvx

I say BLUE to cover the “something blue” part of the saying… I wore Vans with ribbons instead of laces, and the pictures of me lifting my dress a bit so they could peek out are my favorite ones. I was also incredibly comfortable during my reception and all the dancing!
You only have one day to be silly and crazy on your wedding… your ACTUAL wedding! Go for it!

Since your flowers have blue, and the bridesmaids have blue dresses, as long as it doesn’t clash miserably, I say go for the blue!

Blue for the something blue you need to go with your dress and for them to peek out from under your dress as an unexpected surprise every once and awhile! Congratulations and enjoy your wedding day!

Blue. Yes. Definitely, definitely blue.

I like Jesse’s idea where you get to wear both! But if I had to choose, I’d go with the blue.

I like them both, but if you have to go with one, I think the blue.
