It’s The Final Countdown

by Jodifur on August 3, 2009

In 10 days we move in with my parents.  In 11 days we sell this house and buy another.  (Knock on everything that could possibly be made of wood.)  In 40 days we move into the new house.

I look around at half filled boxes, newspaper and bubble wrap everywhere, and think there is no way this house will be packed in 10 days.  And then I know it will be, because there is simply no other choice.

We spent the weekend shopping for living room furniture because, well, I don't have a living room.  I have purchased new bathroom stuff because after 8 years my bathroom accessories are gross.  The plumber was here for 3 hours on Friday trying to unblock Michael's clogged toilet.  Don't ask how much that cost.

Oh, and guess what I am doing today?  Going on a job interview.  Because why not?  Why wouldn't you do that when you move in 10 days?  It makes total sense.  Stress upon stress, upon stress.

Not to mention I still have a trial this week, and Doug is traveling, and Michael is being 4, and blogging, and life, and I now understand why people pay to have movers pack them.  It no longer seems like an outrageous expense.  At this point, who cares how much things cost?

I can see the new house, I just can't see actually vacating this one.

(Also, it's my Mom's Birthday, so give a happy birthday Jodifur's mom in the comments please.  Happy Birthday Mom.  Much love.)

Good luck on your job interview! Can you just hire movers to do the rest?

We’ve used packers each time we’ve moved. All of them were long distance moves, but it each time it saved my sanity. My only frustration? They don’t do enough to describe what’s actually in the box. I say go for it.

Happy Birthday Jodi’s mom! You must be a fantastic mother — my mom’s birthday is today too! Enjoy your day!!
Good luck on the move! I’ve been spoiled and never packed myself, so that task seems daunting to me too. But you can do it.
Best of luck on the job interview too! though I think you’re a little crazy to add new job stress to your life too :) It’s always worth it if it gets you to the right job.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JODIFUR’S MOM!!
Wow. I’ve moved 13 times in the past 8 years and have packed and moved myself. I know your pain! The day that I get movers to move me will be the BEST day of my life!
I hope it all goes smooth for you. Good luck on your job interview!

Happy birthday Jodifur’s mom. It’s my birthday too.
Jodifur – good luck on your interview. I hope it goes well and they offer you the job plus a hiring bonus big enough to say screw it and call the moving company.

happy birthday Jodifur’s mom! Good luck with the job interview!
As to the packing, if all else fails just start cramming things into boxes. you can sort it out on the other end.

Happy Happy B-day to Jodi’s Mom!
Moving – yay! Packing – boo! Packing really does have to be one of the worst things to do…especially kitchen stuff – it never fits into boxes properly. Good luck!

I am all about new bathroom stuff when you move. it is just the kind of thing that needs replaced on a regular basis.
that’s right–there is no other option, it will be done. it is just going to suck getting there.
happy birthday to your mom!
