I had no idea what two year olds were like until I had one

by Jodifur on June 25, 2007

Michael counted to 10 today. Completely unprompted and unassisted.
As I was backing my car out of a parking space, he said, "Mommy, we are going backwards."
He says, "Oh, man" with such a teenage inflection I laugh every time.
"No Mommy, I do by self," is his new favorite phrase.
He has taken up golf, no lie. He got a set of plastic golf clubs from my Dad and says, "I play golf." When I told him he was my little Tiger, he roared.
His new favorite game is hide and seek. He says, "Mommy you hide," puts his hands over his eyes, counts to three, and say "found you." I never have enough time to actually hide.
Michael is such a monkey, he can climb anything. Playground equipment is no match for him, either are ladders to bunk beds. He can climb up a slide, any slide. I turn my back for a second, and he is on top of things. I'm convinced one day he will be on top of the refrigerator. He has not climbed out of the crib yet, thank G-d.
Every night before bed I say, "who loves Micheal?" He looks at me, sighs, and says, "everybody."
I think if he could articulate it, "you moron" would end that sentence.

I had no idea a 2 year old would be able to give me such joy. Every day Zoe does new things… like the things Michael is doing. Amazing things. Sometimes I have to look at her and think “where did that come from… how did you learn that?” Just today my husband looked at me and said “we suddenly have another real person in this house that talks and everything!”

Super cute… I am amazed at my own lil 2 year old.. I think she’s smarter than me definitely!! lol…. Also, she unfortunately does climb out of her crib. Started doing it at 15 months and never stopped:-( Lucky you that Michael hasn’t figured that one out yet!
