Charity

Shannon tagged me for the coolest meme. (And I just have to say if you are not reading her you should be. No one writes with the brutal honesty that Shannon does. Even through difficult times, Shannon never minces words.) If you read me often enough, you know I never met a meme I didn't like. But this one is different.
The rules are simple, copy the list of charities and links (grab it from whomever tags you) and add your 5 favorite charities or non-profit organizations to the end (link to their sites with anchor text of the causes they champion). Of course finish things off by tagging 5 other webmasters/bloggers and then publishing the post or the webpage.
Court Appointed Special Advocates-(CASA)- The mission of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association, together with its state and local members, is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes.
House of Ruth-advocate for and assist women and children victimized by domestic violence by providing shelter, programs, opportunity and education; to contribute to social change through intervention, education, prevention programs, and community awareness.
Children's Hospital-I linked to DC's, but nearly every major city has one. Children’s has provided hope to sick children and their families throughout the region for more than 130 years. What started as a small hospital in the city has grown to a nationally recognized leader in pediatric medicine with research facilities, satellite offices around the beltway, and primary care centers. Our physicians and nurses are among the best in the nation — providing everything from routine well-baby exams to pediatric specialists in all medical disciplines. Children's is also a research facility, with hundreds of grants and studies performed each year.
The National Children's Advocacy Center-The National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC) is a non-profit organization that provides training, prevention, intervention and treatment services to fight child abuse and neglect.
Avon Foundation-Since it was founded in 1955, the Avon Foundation has been committed to the mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Now past the half century milestone, the Avon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that brings this mission to life through two key areas of focus: breast cancer and domestic violence.
Now, the list, with Shannon's additions-
