I need someone to kick me

by Jodifur on March 21, 2007

I need to lose some weight. My clothes are starting to get tight and I can tell a difference in my body. The problem is, I'm eating like crazy, stuff I never eat, cookies, chips, all this left over party food. (I just read that and it sounds like I'm pregnant. I'm not pregnant, trust me).
I was really good for a while. I cut out all white food and sugar and was doing really well. Now, I'm blah. I only go to the gym 2-3 times a week, and I really need to go more. The problem is, I could go to the the gym at 3 when I leave work, or I could go home and get some stuff done (stuff being watch tv I tivoed), or run errands. If I can I go in the morning before work I do that, but lately I've had meetings and trials that makes that impossible.
So, please yell at me. Tell me I'd be happier if I made exercise a priority. Tell me I'd like my clothes to fit. Tell me I don't really need to eat cake at every one of the playgroup parties we go to. Because otherwise, instead of 10 pounds to lose I'll have 50.

I would never yell at you.

Do it if you enjoy it. Is there a different class/equipment you could try at the gym? Is it warm enough to walk with the iTunes?

Could you take long walks with little man on the weekends?

And, while I don’t know you body or what you are striving for, please be realistic. It breaks my heart when women strive for some crazy ideal…

I think you look great, but totally understand being uncomfortable when you aren’t at your own norm. I have to go to the gym after Mia goes to bed, which I hate, so was thinking how great it would be if I could have the time to go in the afternoons. But then I realized that if I had the time I would probably shop and watch TiVo too.

BUT! I’ve been trying for 5 times a week and am so happy. Exercise is my Prozac – it’s worth it.

I’d yell at you, but my weight loss odyssey has stalled myself. I NEED to exercise. How do people with toddlers do it?

oh, I know the feeling…so I’m in no position to do any yelling! My own weight loss plan is simply attempting to eat “normally” again and not as though I’m still exclusively breastfeeding – I’m cutting out the fat and cutting back on portions. So far, so slow. But there is movement in the right direction!

I thought that the Cake was the ONLY reason to go to playgroup.

Isn’t it turning spring? That’s when we as people become more excited about becoming active!

Take your kid for a walk outside one more time than you used to. Get extra excited with your body while vacuuming and cleaning mirrors. These little things make a giant difference. Tighten your butt and stomach muscles while typing every blog, or every time at the computer. Maybe you won’t loose ten pounds, but the firmer feeling may make you motivated to make some changes.

We all need to make some changes. And spring’s the perfect time to get back into thinking about our bodies–winter is for slugging and conserving. Spring’s for expelling. Don’t get too discouraged. That’s what made me stop my yoga schedule for 5 weeks.
