The first day of our romantic trip to Savannah

(Or, how spending 13 hours in various airports kills the mood)
As discussed earlier, I am a bad traveler. We got to the airport at 6 am for an 8 am flight, we were supposed to be in Savannah at 10 am, and had a whole plan for the day.
We watched our flight get delayed to 9, then 9:45, then to 10:30, and ultimately, canceled.
And that was when the madness began. Trying to be re-boked. The other two directs from Dulles were filled. They put us on an Atlanta flight that would connect to a Savannah flight. Then the Atlanta flight got delayed, and we knew we would miss our connection. Then they wanted to send us to Regan National and go to Chicago, then to Charlotte, then to Savannah. At one point, someone from United airlines hung up on me.
We ended up on an Atlanta flight that would connect to a Savannah flight. And then it pulled away from the gate, and we sat, for two hours on the runway, and they wouldn't go back. So we missed our connection. We get off the flight, with no where to go. My husband thought about renting a car, my vote was for giving up and going home. We ended up having 30 minutes to get to an AIRTRAN flight (formerly val u jet, before the crash). And we RAN through the Atlanta airport. Have you been to this airport, it's enormous? Thanks goodness for my weekly kickboxing and spin classes, I'm in better shape then I thought.
In the end we landed at Savannah at 7 pm, 13 hours from when we started and a whole extra airport later.
